After losing what is traditionally the opening event on The Invincibles season due to Covid-19 “the Mount Coolum 2 Day Classic” it was important for The Tour to re-focus on the next event, The Royal Queensland Junior Open who had their course and facilities set up magnificently to host their Open, where 112…………

Of Queensland and NSW’s finest junior golfers (37 different clubs) who made the most of a perfect day, other than a couple of brief showers that drifted across the course throughout the morning, which helped keep the temperature down and made for a very enjoyable day.

A day that saw two incredibly talented golfers in Shyla Singh (Southport) and Lincoln Morgan (RQ) from setting new Invincibles Course Records for the RQ layout with rounds of 69 and 68, respectively.

Yevin Samararatne (RQ) who lost in a count back with Lincoln, also holds a share of the record.

The Invincibles Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the team at Royal Queensland, particularly Chris Clayton (Vice-Captain) along with Andrew Vanstone (Retail Supervisor) for hosting what was another magical Junior Open.

The Tour would also like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the team in the office, their ground staff, caterers, pro shop, and bar staff for not only putting on a great day, but most importantly, like most clubs, for making everyone feel so welcome.

It was a privilege and an honour to have Charlie Earp (Greg Norman’s Coach) in attendance at the awards ceremony to present the awards along with one of our Invincibles inaugural members in Jillian Johnson who helped host the awards.

Amy (yunseo) Jo (Emerald Lakes – p1 below) and Yevin Samararatne (R-Q p -2-4) qualified for The Invincibles 2021 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, that will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Twin Waters, Peregian Golf Course, Pelican Waters, and Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort during the last week of the September School holidays (Sunday the 26th to Wednesday the 29th of September).

Miles Romagnoli (Caloundra – p3 above) won The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Course Cup with his brilliant 69 nett, that also qualified him to take his place in the field to contest the Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by (venue to be confirmed) Sunday the 28th of November, followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner which all participants of the Gold Cup of Cups are expected to participate in.

Given that the Mount Coolum 2 Day Summer Classic was cancelled, the Tour decided to award a second qualifier from the RQ Junior Open to contest the Gold Cup which was awarded to Yevin in a c/b from Shyla Singh!

Highlights on the day included: Mile Romagnoli’s brilliant tee shot on 17 to set up his birdie, James Riseley’s 40 foot putt on 2, Josh Holbrook’s flop shot over the bunker on 3, Andrew Prisley’s chip in on 8, Grace Rao’s bunker shot on 5, Kaleb Doolan’s tee shot within two inches and Matthys Visser’s bunker shot on 1, all for birdies and Jordan Speare’s brilliant eagle on the 10th after sinking a twenty-foot putt, which were just a few of the many highlights during what was a magical day out at Royal Queensland.
