On what was a hot and humid day on the fairways, but beautiful under the shade of the trees with a refreshing breeze blowing across the course that made things bearable for the large group of some 120 players (including 9 hole) of South East Queensland’s very talented juniors who came to enjoy the challenge. As is always the case, the team at Bribie had their course set up magnificently to host their Junior Open and we feel our juniors made the most of the opportunity, particularly home-town boy………

Baxter Smith (Bribie Island) and Justice Bosio (Caboolture) as always put in excellent performance to win the Open with rounds of 72 and 79 respectively.

By winning the boys and girls divisions, both Baxter and Justice (Main photo & 1-2 below) qualified for The Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship that will be hosted by the very generous Peregian Golf Course, Twin Waters, Pelican Waters, and Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort during the last week of the September School holidays (Sunday the 27th to Wednesday the 30th of September).

The Invincibles Tour would like to congratulate the team at Bribie, particularly, Linda Urguhart (Junior Co-Ordinator) and her team who work tirelessly for junior golf, Graeme Douglas (Men’s Captain) the pro shop, ground staff, caterers and bar staff for doing a fantastic job, but most importantly for making everyone feel so welcome!

The Invincibles Course Cup went to a very excited Mikayla Dyal (Caboolture -3-4) with 71 nett, that in

turn qualified her for The Invincibles Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Pelican Waters Golf Club, Sunday the 29th of November, followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner.

Highlights on the day included; Archie Cunningham and Hayden Summerford’s chip in’s on 9 and 10, Ashton Gurung putt for par on 13, Dean Sae – Ung drive on 14, Jarrod Hill’s chip in on 12, Yutaro Matsushita, Harvey Palmer and Dylan Wang’s brilliant putts on 13 to save pars, Josh Holbrook’s excellent up and down on 13 to salvage a gutsy bogey after holing out for eagle from fifty metres on 12, Pratyush Bharadwaj and Baxter Smith’s run of birdies on 5-6-7 and Justice Bosio and Rebecca O’Neill’s approaches on 17, which were just a few of the many highlights during the day.

A couple of Downers that included: Juniors not ringing the host club to cancel their booking when they came to realize, that they weren’t going to be able to make their tee time!

It was noticed on numerous occasions, that when a player looked as though he or she had lost his ball, that their playing partners didn’t help them find it, this behaviour is totally inappropriate and an act that is not in the true spirit of the game.

We all get into difficult situations from time to time during a round and it is important that we do everything in our power to support our fellow playing partners, who knows, you might be the next one in need?

“If you witness any highlights during a competition, please let Graeme know so we can all enjoy the moment?"
