Thanks to Brett Martell and his roving team of reporters who are doing a magnificent job keeping us up to date with our Invincibles members who are doing an incredible job contesting events throughout Australia over the Xmas school holidays. During the second week of January we saw several Invincible members travel to Adelaide to play in the South Australian Junior Amateurs on the 6th and 7th and the South Australian Junior Master’s on the 9th and 10th. In total 21 boys and 12 girls made…………
The trip south to the wine state.
The two standout performers were Justice Bosio (Caboolture) and Blaike Perkins (Pelican Waters). Justice (pictured with Aldrich Potgieter – Western Australia) was able to win both her events, while Blaike finished fourth in the South Australian Amateurs and second in the South Australian Junior Masters.
The South Australian Amateurs was played at Kooyonga golf club while the Masters was conducted at Royal Adelaide golf club.
Players had to contend with some very difficult conditions with extremes in temperatures and smoke haze causing havoc.
Players were able to complete the full 54 holes over two days at Kooyonga; however, the Junior Masters was reduced to 36 holes.
On the first day, play was suspended after 18 holes as players had to endure stifling 45C temperatures.
On the second day play was suspended due to air quality concerns for close to two hours allowing only a further 18 holes to be played.
Unfortunately, by this time players resumed in 40km winds and drenching rain. It was definitely a difficult week for players to adapt to. However, the experience no doubt will leave each and every one a better player for it. results of top ten finishes and scores are below.
