Well what a “Cracker” of a day; It doesn’t get any better than what we witnessed on Sunday. To see our next generation of junior golfers, and their families take to the fairways to test their skills and patience against one of the coasts newest and beautifully presented golf courses “Maleny Golf Club” who............

Had their course in magnificent condition to host our best 6- & 9-hole future champions as they took to the fairways to contest the Zone & District Short Course Championships, as young Layla Barnett (Peregian Golf Club) and Zac Heading (Bribie Island – pictured) would agree to, after taking out the 9 Hole Champion Titles for 2019 with rounds of 43 and 49 respectively.

If, Sunday at Maleny was anything to go by, then our next generation of junior golfers on the Sunshine Coast and throughout South East Queensland are in for a very exciting and promising future.

The men’s and women’s Golf Zones and Associations should be thrilled with the running of their third Short Course Championship, it’s a fantastic concept, that creates the perfect environment for our juniors to grow and develop their skills, both social and golfing.

On behalf of our Men & Women’s Zone and District Golf Associations and for those that took part in the day, we would like to thank the team at Maleny that included Tom Bertwhistle, Christine Lemon, Beth Glove and Eve Beaman for their input, support and most importantly, for their friendly hospitality.

It was fantastic to be there to witness what was a great day out, particularly watching everyone gather around and enjoy the BBQ prior to presentations.
