Over two spectacular days, Junior Golf Queensland in conjunction with the beautifully presented Pelican Waters G.C, who had their course and facilities set up at their magnificent best to host the running of their 2019, 2 Day Junior Easter Classic, where those fortunate enough to be in the field, took full advantage of the conditions and the……….…..

First week of the school holidays to test themselves against what is considered the toughest course on the Sunshine Coast, something Jarrod Goodwin (69-74=143) and James Riseley (75-70=145) both Pelican boys, might be surprised with as they set about recording rounds of 3 and 2 under, 69 and 70 respectively.

Jarrod’s 69 set a New Invincibles Course Record at Pelican Waters, eclipsing the previous mark of 70, set by James Mee, Sam Smith and Richard Cook in 2016/18.

James Riseley’s 70 (p3 below) would have equalled the old mark, but he was more than happy to record his best-ever round of golf, as was Jarrod with his 69, which as we keep saying “It doesn’t get any better than bettering your best”.

Lydia Shackell (Hervey Bay Golf & Country Club) won the girls overall title with combined rounds of 77-78=155.

Both Jarrod Goodwin (Pelican Waters) and Lydia Shackell (Hervey Bay – p1 below) qualified for The

Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship that will be hosted by the very generous Twin Waters, Pelican Waters, Peregian Golf Course and Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort during the last week of the September School holidays.

The Invincibles Course Cup was won by Adam Jansz (Pelican Waters - p2) with combined rounds of 63–68=131nett that qualified him for The Invincibles Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort, Sunday the 24th of November, followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner.

Some incredible highlights over the two days, included: Liam Dawson’s drive and approach to within three metres on 3 to set up an eagle putt, but unfortunately had to settle for a tap in birdie.

Other highlights included Sophia Perkins chip in for birdie on 4 and Rae Weiki’s approach to 4 that sat hovering over the hole, Zac Harrison’s brilliant up and down on 6, Jonathan Mason’s excellent tee shot and sixteen metre putt for birdie on 6, and Mongtomery Stapleton brilliant bunker shot into the 3rd (p4 above) which were just a few of the many highlights during the two days of competition.

“If you do happen to witness any highlights during a competition, please let Graeme know via text to 0417 783 848 so we can all enjoy the moment?"
