Yes, you guest it! On what was a another picture perfect day to be outdoors, where, a great squad of our South East Queensland’s finest junior golfers took up the challenge to contest the Maroochy River Golf Clubs Junior Open, who did everything in their power to create a fantastic atmosphere, so the fathers wouldn’t feel left out on “Fathers-Day” and at the same time had their course and facilities set up magnificently to host their Junior Open. Where Yevin……………

Samararatne (Windaroo Lakes) put in a fantastic performance to finish with a magnificent three under par 69, that could have been even better if his approach to 10 “for eagle” had of dropped after coming agonisingly close (p4 below – supplied by Ken Speare).

Baxter Smith (Bribie Island) put in a magnificent effort to finish runner-up with and excellent two under par 70. Poppy Harrington (Redland Bay) put in a fantastic performance of her own to win the girls division with 74, one shot clear of Keely Purdey (Royal Queensland) on 75.

Wilson Foster (Mt Coolum) wound up his junior career with a win in the 17 and under boy’s nett division with 69.

The Invincibles Tour on behalf of the juniors and their parents, would like to pass on their thanks and

appreciation to great team at Maroochy River, that included Jim Di Pietra (Club Captain) Jennie Barnes and Lee Coghlan, their Ground Staff, Caterers, Bar Staff and the team in the Pro Shop, who had their course and facilities set up magnificently to host what was another excellent day out on Tour, but most importantly, as with most clubs, for the way they make everyone feel so welcome.

A special thanks to Kumar Kannan for his very generous support with scoring and feedback to the juniors as they came in. It was much appreciated by everyone involved, particularly Frank, who works tirelessly to keep everyone up to date.

Congratulations to Baxter Smith (Bribie Island p-2) and Poppy Harrington (Redland Bay p-1) for qualifying for The Invincibles 2019 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship that will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Peregian Golf Course, Twin Waters, Pelican Waters, and Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort during the last week of the September School holidays (29th of September to the 2nd of October – 2019).

Congratulations to Maroochy River who has taken an unassailable lead in The Invincibles 2019 Inter – Club Team Shield.

Points for Round 11 were as follows: Maroochy River earned the four points for winning, and Windaroo Lakes earning two points for second, with Noosa Springs coming in third to earn one point!!!

Highlights included: The spirit in which everyone played, Phoenix Gaulke’s tee shot into 8 to set up his par, Juhi Rampersad’s birdie on 5, Montgomery Stapleton’s brilliant run of birdies through 5,6,7, Will Martell’s and Jordan Speare’s fantastic approaches to the 3rd, Yevin Samararatne’s incredible approach to 10 and Jordan Rooke's 50ft putt on 8 for birdie, which were just a few of the many highlights during the championship.

Another Major Highlight; was witnessing everyone that had won an award, stay back for presentations.

To witness all trophy winners, accept their awards was unprecedented and goes a long way towards showing the organisers and sponsors that they are appreciated and not taken for granted!

The Tour would like to thank those that take the time to pass on highlights that happen during our junior events, as we feel it adds to the day and it’s nice to acknowledge great performances.

The Invincibles Tour would also like to thank and make special mention of Callaway Australia and Drummond Golf Maroochydore for very generously supporting The Invincibles Tour on the day. Please keep your eye on The Invincibles website “Notice Board” for any upcoming events!!
