Despite the threat of severe weather, it was fantastic to see such a large group of juniors take up the challenge of contesting the Sunshine Coast & South Burnett Men’s and Ladies Golf Associations, Rod Pampling & Katherine Kirk Open and Closed Junior Championships, which was hosted by the very supportive and beautifully presented Pelican Waters Golf Club, who had their course and facilities in excellent condition to host what was a great group of……….

Queensland’s finest junior golfers who took to the fairways to test themselves and their games at one of Queensland’s most prestigious golfing events, the Pampling – Kirk Classic, that saw Justice Bosio (Caboolture – pictured with Teeren) defend the title she won at Woodford last year with a hard fought 74 gross, on what is considered the toughest course on the Sunshine Coast.

Justice came home strong with a nerve racking four metre putt on 8 to salvage par and pitched in from 124 metres (9 iron) on 9 for eagle (p-4 below).

Playing off the black marks, Teeren (Pelican Waters) put together a very impressive even par round of 72 to win the Boys Division 1 title for 2019.

The Invincibles Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to Pelican Waters Golf Club, their pro shop, caterers, and their ground staff for hosting what was another great day’s competition and for making everyone feel so welcome.

They would also like to thank our Men & Women’s Zone and District Golf Associations (particularly Shaun O’Hara, and Judy Patterson) for organising what was another excellent Pampling – Kirk Classic.

That along with what was a perfect day weatherwise that really allowed everyone to enjoy what was a great day out.

Given the weather predictions, we think most would agree that we dodged a bullet and couldn’t have asked for anymore of the day.

Teeren Kannan (Pelican Waters p-1) and Poppy Harrington (Redland Bay- p2 above) both qualified for The Invincibles 2019 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, that will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Twin Waters, Pelican Waters, Peregian Golf Course, and Noosa Springs Golf Resorts during the last week of the September School holidays (Sunday 29th of September to Wednesday the 2nd of October).

Sebastian Carter (Pelican Waters – p3 above with mum and little sister) won The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Course Cup with 68 nett, and in the process, qualified for Sunshine Coast Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort (Sunday November 24) followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner, where we would like to think that all Gold Cup contestants would make themselves available?

The Invincibles Inter – Club Team Shield points for round 5 went to: Redcliffe Golf Club who earned four points for winning, Pelican Waters Golf Club earned two points for second, with Royal Queensland Golf Club taking out one point for third.

All award winners can be found in the results section:
