On what was an absolute picture-perfect day for our juniors and their families to be out on course, 25 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, a slight breeze and a course that was set up brilliantly for our juniors to contest Mount Coolum’s Junior Open, arguably the toughest layout on The Invincibles Tour, a layout that boasts a unique 6 par three’s, 6 par fours and 6 par fives, that was set up to test anyone’s game “as our juniors would testify” as they took.........
Full advantage of the perfect conditions, particularly Jordan Rooke (Wantima) and Sarah Wilson (Pelican Waters - pictured) who took out The Open Titles with rounds of 77 and 78 respectively.
The Invincibles Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the great team at Mount Coolum, they truly are a close-knit club that really do care about our juniors. All the juniors would like to say thanks to everyone from the Office to the Pro Shop, their ground staff, caterers, and bar staff for not only putting on a great day, but most importantly, for making everyone feel so welcome.
It was a little unfortunate and disappointing to say the least, that the Queensland Education Department decided to run their Schools Championship at the same time as the Mount Coolum Junior Open. Let’s hope a little more consideration is given to others and their events next year?
Congratulations to Jack Elsley (Mount Coolum) for winning the “$300 gift voucher from JB Hi-Fi” in the lucky card draw for those that stayed back for presentations, which to the disappointment of one of our juniors, was the second card drawn?
Congratulations to Jordan Rooke (Wantima p-1 below for qualifying for The Invincibles 2018 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, which will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Twin Waters, Pelican Waters, Peregian Golf Course, and Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort during the last week of the September School holidays (30th of September to the 3rd of October). Given that Sarah has already qualified meant that no girl qualified!
Ryan King (Maroochy River p-2 above) won The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Course Cup with 67 nett (handicap 33) that meant Tobie Martin (Pacific p-3) qualified for The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Pelican Waters Golf Club (Sunday November 25) followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner, where we would like to think that all Gold Cup contestants would make themselves available?
The Invincibles Inter – Club Team Shield points for round 6 are as follows: Maroochy River earned four points for the win in a c/b, Noosa Golf Club earned two points for second, with Pelican Waters taking one point for third.
Highlights on the day included: The sportsmanship that was displayed by Nina Bohan who was given a wrong ruling that put her under enormous pressure that she handled extremely well, Sarah Wilson’s approach to the 18th to set up birdie, Teeren Kannan’s approach to 18, Ellandie Findley and Sienna Coghlan’s drives on 10, Daniel Hendricks up and down on 16 for par, Tobie Martin’s chip in on 3 for par, Ionna Muir’s brilliant putt on 9, Shae Coghlan’s brilliant shot over the water on 17, Lilly Surasen’s fantastic par on 12, Kynan Allen’s composure after having a twelve on the 6th hole, to follow up with a par, bogey, par and bogey and Jayden Dyal’s chip in birdie on 8, which were brilliant and just a few of the many highlights during the day…….
The Invincibles Tour would like to thank Frank Schmidt for all the hard work and effort he puts into scoring and stats, which is very much appreciated.
The Invincibles Tour would also like to thank and make special mention of Callaway Australia, Drummond Golf Maroochydore, and Sunshine Coast Council for very generously supporting The Invincibles Tour.
