On what was the perfect day for golf, a day, where everything was set up magnificently to contest the finals of the 2019 Sunshine Coast Zone Pennants Season, and thanks to the great team at Twin Waters Golf Club, who took great pride and pleasure in having their course and facilities in magnificent condition to host what was to become a very exciting days golf, particularly for Noosa Golf Club who…......

Put in a fantastic performance to win both the A Grade and Junior Flags.

In other divisions, Mount Coolum def Peregian Golf Club 5/2 in B Grade, whilst in the Masters division, Noosa Springs def Maroochy River in a nail bitter that went to the 21st hole, which Noosa Springs won 4/3.

After taking in the excitement of winning their junior flag, the Noosa Juniors headed straight out on course to support their A Grade side “brilliant to witness” and for their effort, they were treated to one on the most exciting pennants finals ever contested on the Sunshine Coast after Alec O’Brien was forced into extra time (19th hole) played an unbelievable recovery shot from the trees from about ninety metres out onto the green and sunk the nine metre putt for birdie to give Noosa a 4/3 win and the title.

Young Jasmine Lena (Noosa p-2 below) took out the coveted junior “Player of The Series Award” which was a fitting result for the great season she and her father (Craig) had put in.

Thanks to the hard work and effort that Twin Waters put into preparing their course, hard work that set the stage for what promised to be a fantastic day’s competition where our juniors worked hard to see who was going to claim the Sunshine Coast Junior Pennants Championship Title for 2019.

We believe that the camaraderie, sportsmanship and friendships that were on display throughout the season and carried into the finals was a major reason for a great 2019 Pennants Season, so on behalf of our Zone and District and The Invincibles Tour, we would like to thank you all for creating an atmosphere for everyone to enjoy the big occasion, win, lose or draw.

The Zone Committee should be very happy with the way the day unfolded; it really was a great success.

A huge congratulations to Noosa Golf Club for winning the 2019 Zone Pennants Flag, they as a team should be enormously proud of their performance, but most importantly in the way they represented as a team.

James Jouris, manager and coach (p-4 above) of the juniors at Noosa, is extremely proud of the way his squad performed, but most importantly, in the way they represented their club and team mates.

They are an exceptional group of very talented kids that I and the club are extremely proud of and with the support of Noosa Golf club and their members, I believe we are still to witness what they are capable of, and I also believe, the best is yet to come, Jamie said.

Congratulations to Noosa Springs Golf Club and their team in Sunday Moore (Schools Championships) Samara Dryden, Coco Moore and Jasmine Lena for making it through to the finals in just their second year in the competition, which is a fantastic effort and one they should be enormously proud of.

It was a great sight seeing so many club managers, professionals and committee members on hand to support their members.

One must make special mention of young Coco Moore (Noosa Springs) for someone so young (9). She showed a maturity and skills beyond her years and a determination that her club, and team mates were extremely proud of.

Major highlights on the day were, Jasmine Lena’s tee shot on the second that nearly knocked the flag stick out, also Shane Dunning’s tee shot on 2, Coco Moore’s up and down on 5 and the way Shane Dunning played the 11th for par was exceptional and these were just a few of the many highlights from what was an exceptional day out.

We believe most would agree, that the spirit in which all matches were played, was a major highlight and a pleasure to be associated with.

The sportsmanship, camaraderie and friendships that was on display between the players, caddies, and club members, was just brilliant, as was the case all year with those that participated in the Sunshine Coast Zone Pennant Season!

Another major highlight was hearing how proud the parents were of their children “win, lose or draw and without exception” they were proud of the sportsmanship, attitude, and the way they represented themselves. Parents Craig Lena and Matt Dryden said, they really did themselves proud, like all the parents out there, we couldn’t have asked for anymore!

Now that the Pennants Season is over for 2019, The Invincibles Tour is looking forward to getting back out on "Tour" and we would like to invite everyone to join us?
