The Invincibles Tour on behalf of their members, families, and junior golfers throughout South East Queensland, would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the great team at the beautifully presented Redcliffe Golf Club, who have always played a vital role when it comes to junior golf on the Sunshine Coast.

But most importantly, we would like to thank them for their fantastic support and friendly hospitality.

It is incredible what a difference a week makes? After contesting the SC&SBDGA’s Short Course Championships in extremely trying conditions, to heading down the Bruce Highway to take part in the Redcliffe Junior Classic in perfect conditions “on Mother’s Day” was quite a contrast and it certainly wasn’t wasted on those that took part (results below).

Particularly for Kate McFarlane (Bundaberg) who continued her brilliant form of late, recording an excellent one under par 72 to take out the Girls A Grade Division from hometown girl Amy Hodgkins (Redcliffe) and Kelly Maddison (Noosa Springs) who recorded rounds of 77.

Kate’s score would have equaled The Invincibles Course Record at Redcliffe but given there were preferred lies on mowed surfaces, ruled that out!

The Boys Open Division saw Teeren Kannan (Pelican Waters) win with a 74 gross, with Josh Holbrook and Ben Duncombe (both from Headland) coming home strongly with rounds of 75 and 76, respectively. Dougal Golden (Virginia) also recorded a 76.

As a way of saying thanks to the Mum’s that gave up being pampered with breakfast in bed and spoilt with presents on their special day, The Invincibles Tour wanted to show their appreciation by pampering them a little by putting on a special door prize for one lucky Mum “that was won by a very happy Penny Smith - p4 below” and chocolates for those that stayed back for presentations!

Kate McFarlane (Bundaberg -p1 below) and Dougal Golden (Virginia – p2) qualified for The Invincibles 2021 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, that will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Peregian and Twin Waters Golf Courses, and Noosa Springs Golf Resorts during the last week of the September School holidays (Sunday the 26th, to Wednesday the 29th of September 2021).

Please note, given that Pelican Waters G C will be a nine-hole course to carry out renovations (revamp) therefore Noosa Springs Golf Resort will be hosting the final two days of the championship.

Kelly Maddison (Noosa Springs p3 above) won The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Course Cup with her 70 nett, and in the process qualified for Sunshine Coast Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort (Sunday November 21) followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner!

The Invincibles Tour on behalf of their members and junior golfers throughout South East Queensland would like to thank the Redcliffe Golf Club, their Secretary manager, Kerry Newsome, and in particular, Hannah Mason (Golf Operation - Junior Coordinator) Chris Adams (Director of Golf) Doug Klein and Dylan Taylor (Pro Shop) their ground and bar staff, and caterers for presenting their facilities in excellent condition given the circumstances, but most importantly for making everyone feel welcome!

The Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to Penny Smith for once again generously offering to help with scoring at Invincibles events.

We would also like to make mention and thank Frank Schmidt for the enormous effort he puts in at events.

The Tour would like to thank and make special mention of Callaway Australia for their very generous support of “Mother’s Day” and the Redcliff’s Junior Classic by supplying prizes and gifts for the Mums and juniors that were present on the day.

The Brett Martell Inter – Club Team Shield points are as follows: Pelican Waters Golf Club (222) earned the four points for winning round 4 of the 2021 Inter Club Team Shield, Maroochy River Golf Club (224) earned two points for second, with Keperra Golf Club coming third on (232) to earn one point!!!

Highlights on the day included: Liam Dawson’s chip in for eagle on the par five 5, 4th hole, Will Tong’s up and down on 6 for par, Ionna Muir’s tee shot on 7, Teeren Kannan’s up and down on 11 to save par, Lilly Surasen’s brilliant up and down from 80m to save par on 18, Alfie Ward’s chip in from 10m for birdie and Josh Holbrook’s up and down for birdie on 18, which were just a few of the many, many highlights during the day.

The Tour would like to wish all those that are representing their clubs in the up-and-coming Sunshine Coast Zone Pennants Season, beginning on May 16, all the best.

From an Invincibles perspective: we know we speak for our members and their families, when we extend a special thanks and our appreciation to our sponsors and supporters (below) for the massive input and support they give to Junior Golf and The Invincibles Tour.

invincibles supporters

Their support helps us enormously with the promotion and development of Junior Golf on the Sunshine Coast which is something we don’t take for granted and very much appreciate.....

We would also like to make special mention of The Invincibles Committee who do an excellent job behind the scenes to make sure The Tour runs well, in particular Joss Quirk, Frank Schmidt, and Neil Charkow. They give their time so willingly to help at events, behind the scenes or with The Invincibles website in the hope of making sure that your golfing experience is just that much more enjoyable.
