News

It really doesn’t get any better, nor more exciting for our juniors and their families, than to visit a club that’s set up brilliantly to host their Classic. On what was an absolute cracker of a day for golf and that’s what our Invincibles members and juniors from across South East Queensland experienced when they arrived at Redcliffe Golf Club to contest their Junior Classic. Where most, if not everyone…………..

Made the most of the perfect conditions, particularly home-town boy Tyler Duncan (Redcliffe – main photo with Caitlin Vanderkruk - Keperra) who defended the title he won last year and in the process set a new Invincibles Course Record 68, surpassing the old mark (69) by one shot that was jointly held by Wade Stockill (2010) Shae Wools-Cobb (2013) and Lochlan Coleborn and Redcliffe member Chase Duffy (2016).

Keperra member, Caitlin Vanderkruk put in a solid performance to win the girls title with 79.

A full rundown of all score and NTP’s can be found by clicking on the following link:

Our great game is a sport that sometimes brings the worst out in people, but more often than not, the best.

Our game is based on honesty, discipline, respect and sportsmanship, and that was no more evident

than on Sunday when Bailey Arnott called a two stroke penalty on himself (unbeknown to any of his playing partners) after marking his ball off to the side on the green and forgot to replace it to its original spot and played on.

Bailey; you’re an absolute champion and a credit to the game, well done from everyone on Tour!

Just for the record; Bailey went on to have an even par round of 72 (ACR).

• If a ball is replaced at a spot on the putting green other than where it was lifted from and subsequently played from this wrong place, the player incurs a penalty of two strokes in stroke play or loss of hole in match play!

As a way of saying thanks to the Mum’s who gave up being pampered with breakfast in bed and spoilt with presents on their special day, The Invincibles Tour showed their appreciation by pampering them a little by putting on a special door prize for one lucky Mum “that was won by a very happy Sar Surasen - p4 below” and chocolates for those that stayed back for presentations!

Caitlin Vanderkruk (Keperra – p2 below) and Lachlan Hancock (Maryborough - P1 below) qualified for The Invincibles 2019 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, that will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Twin Waters, Pelican Waters, Peregian Golf Course, and Noosa Springs Golf Resorts during the last week of the September School holidays (Sunday the 29th Sept to Wednesday the 2rd of October 2019).

Ti-Shon Wai Wai (Redcliffe p3 above) won The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Course Cup with his 69 nett, and in the process qualified for Sunshine Coast Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort (Sunday November 24) followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner!

The Invincibles Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the great team at Redcliffe, particularly Kerry Newsome (Manager) Peter Holloway (Men’s Captain) and their great team including Vonnie (halfway house) Richard and Hanna in the Pro Shop, Sharee (bar) and ground staff for hosting what was another excellent day out and for making everyone feel so welcome.

We would also like to make mention and thank Frank Schmidt for the enormous effort he puts into helping with stats and scoring, which is very much appreciated.

The Tour would like to thank and make special mention of Callaway Australia for their very generous support of “Mother’s Day” and the Redcliff’s Junior Classic by supplying prizes and gifts for the Mums and juniors that were present on the day.

They would also like to thank IGA (Romeo) for donating the magnificent Box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

The Inter – Club Team Shield points are as follows: Redcliffe Golf Club (214) earned the four points for winning round 2 of the 2019 Inter Club Team Shield, Caboolture Golf Club (217) earned two points for second, with Maroochy River Golf Club coming third on (221) to earn one point!!!

Highlights on the day included: Sam Wilson’s par on 1, Ti-Shon Wai Wai and Terren Kannan’s eagles on 4 and 8 respectively, Jordan Rooke’s brilliant pitch in for birdie from sixty metre’s out on 6, Bailey Arnott’s up and down from the pot on 6 to save par, James Riseley’s up and down from the twelfth tee box to save par on 6.

Other great highlight included: Will Martell’s brilliant effort from the trees to save par on 6, Jarrod Goodwin’s twenty foot putt on 6 to save par, Sienna Coghlan’s birdie on 2, Ti-Shon Wai Wai’s chip in on 10 for birdie, James Riseley’s forty foot put on 18, Olly Merritt’s forty five foot putt on 17 for birdie, Harry Takis’s par putt on 17, Hayden Summerfields par putt on 18.

Also: Zoe Maxwell and Caitlin Vanderkruk’s approaches to within a metre on 18 to set up birdies, Montgomery Stapleton’s up and down from the bunker on 18 for par, and Will Martell and Dhiya Rampersad’s brilliant putts from off the green on 18 for birdies, which were just a few of the many, many highlights during the day.
