News

Given the weather we’d experienced leading into Caboolture’s Junior Classic, it was an absolute bonus when we arrived on Sunday morning to what was the perfect sunny day for our juniors to take up the challenges that Caboolture layout has to offer, particularly for Sophie Thomsen (Pelican Waters) and Ethan Anderson (Pacific Harbour – pictured) who recorded………

Workmen like sores of 75 and 95 respectively.

"Not a bad effort at all, particularly when you consider that both boys and girls played off the back markers!!!"

Nett Champions were brother and sister team in Ethan and Elke Anderson (Pacific Harbour – p4 below) with very impressive nett scores of 66 and 68 respectively.

Unfortunately, the numbers were down given that most of our juniors had just come off contesting the Queensland Junior Amateur Championships at Carbrook and were preparing for the 2 Day Winter Classic that will be hosted by Keperra Golf Club today, Monday the 8th of July.

Thanks to Caboolture Golf Club, their unbelievable team of volunteers and very generous sponsors in Kerry & Julie Appleby (Casskay Haulage Pty Ltd) who not only sponsored the Trophies, but also all the fruit, ice cold water, hot dogs, coffee, cakes and just about anything one could imagine.

We would also like to pass on our thanks and appreciation to their Caterer’s, Bar & Office Staff, Ground

Staff, and the team in the Pro Shop for having their course and facilities set up beautifully to host the day, but most importantly, for making everyone feel welcome.

We keep saying that one of the great side benefits of The Invincibles Tour is the friendships, comradery, and sportsmanship that’s on display when our juniors and their families gather together at tour events which is fantastic to see and something we never get tired of being associated with.

Declan Corke (Gladstone – P-1 below) qualified for The Invincibles 2019 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship (no girl qualified) that will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Twin Waters, Peregian Golf Course, Pelican Waters, and Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort during the last week of the September School holidays (29th of September to the 2nd of October – 2019).

Ethan Carlson (Royal Queensland – p3 above) won The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Course Cup with a nett score of 72, and by doing so, qualified for the Sunshine Coast Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort, Sunday November 24th followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner (all qualifiers are requested to make themselves available at the dinner).

The Invincibles 2019 Inter – Club Team Shield points for Round 6 are as follows: Caboolture Golf Club earned the four points for winning, with Pacific Harbour Golf Club earning two points for second, and Royal Queensland Golf Club coming in third to earn one point!!!

Highlights on the day included: Matt Wall’s holing out his bunker shot on 13 to salvage par, Nina Bohan’s brilliant approach from 120m out and putt for par on the 7th, Sophie Thomsen’s fantastic approach to 13 and three metre putt for birdie, Dean Sae-Ung approach and putt for par on the same hole, Charlie Simms N.T.P on 5 that ended in a par, Yutaro Matsushita’s brilliant up and down from the bunker on 16 as well as his magical tee shot on the par three 18 that hit the flag stick and Bailey Butler recording his first ever par on the 5th, which were just a few of the many, many highlights during the day…….

Please; If you see or hear of anything special happening at one of our Invincibles events (or any event for that matter) please don’t just sit on them, forward them through to Graeme so we can all enjoy the moment? The Invincibles Tour would like to thank and make special mention of Callaway Australia, Drummond Golf Maroochydore, and Sunshine Coast Council for very generously supporting The Invincibles Tour on the day.

From an Invincibles perspective: we know we speak for our members and their families, when we extend a special thanks and our appreciation to our sponsors and supporters (below) for the massive input and support they give to Junior Golf and The Invincibles Tour.

invincibles supporters 2017

Their support helps us enormously with the promotion and development of Junior Golf on the Sunshine Coast which is something we don’t take for granted and very much appreciate.....

We would also like to make special mention of The Invincibles Committee who do an excellent job behind the scenes to make sure The Tour runs well, in particular Joss Quirk, Frank Schmidt, and Neil Charkow. They give their time so willingly to help at events, behind the scenes or with The Invincibles website in the hope of making sure that your golfing experience is just that much more enjoyable.
