On what was another perfect day to be outdoors on the Sunny Coast! Particularly for the 116 contestants (and their families) that took up the challenge and full advantage of the conditions to contest the Maroochy River 2018 Junior Open. Where Ben Stieler (Brookwater – pictured with Caitlin) recorded a……..
Brilliant “Better Than His Best Performance” after finishing on 67/66nett, five under the card to win the Boys Open Champion Title for 2018, from defending Champion, Tyler Duncan (Redcliffe) who put up a great defence of his title, after recording a very respectable 69 (-3).
At one stage Ben (p1 - 3 below) had it six to under, but unfortunately handed one back on his final hole.
I’m stoked, Ben said, this is the best I’ve played, and really, anything was possible out there today, I was in a zone and I made the most of it “all but the last hole”.
Ben went on to say, it was a great feeling, and the guys in my group were a great support, they knew what was going on, and got behind me.
Caitlin Vanderkruk (Keperra - p2 below) put in a solid performance to take out the Girls Open Title with 76/71nett.
Maroochy River and their team, would like to thank and extend their appreciation to the dad’s
for bringing their sons and daughters to their Open, it was a fantastic turnout, and they hope that everyone had a great day out?
Other than a computer glitch at registration, which was something we’ve all experienced (pain in the butt) but something we appreciate is out of our control, and in the long run, it didn’t take anything away from the day.
The Tour keeps saying that one of the great side benefits of The Invincibles Tour, is the friendships, comradery, and sportsmanship that’s on display when our juniors, their families and galleries gather together at tour events, and there’s no doubt that the Maroochy River Junior Open displayed all the above.
