In what were perfect conditions, a large contingent of Queensland’s finest junior golfers gathered together at Mt Coolum Golf Club to contest the opening junior event for 2019, “The Titleist 2 Day Summer Classic” where after the Xmas break, were looking forward to the challenge of testing their game against what is arguably one of Queensland’s, if not Australia’s most unique and challenging golf courses. A course that boasts 6 par 3’s, 6 par 4’s and 6 par 5’s. A layout that proved a…………..

Real test of everyone’s game.

Last years-runner-up, Blaike Perkins (Bargara) who recorded rounds of 69-73=142 to win the boys title, Blakes 69 Equaled his Invincibles Course record that he set last year.

Mia Lines (Royal Queensland) also made the most of the perfect conditions to win the girls title with rounds of 76-74=150 that included two eagles on day two, after playing the perfect drive and fairway shot on 15 to within 10cm for an easy tap in putt, and on 18, Mia slam-dunked her second shot from 55m’s out for an easy two and her second eagle. (Fantastic effort)

Other incredible highlights included: Jordan Speare recording his first ever sub-par nine holes, when he recorded two birdies and seven pars (-2) on the back nine, Allira Shingles eight iron into 18 for eagle, Rebecca O’Neill’s chip in on 7 for birdie and Lewis Shaughnessy’s chip in on 11, which were just a few of the many highlights during the two day.

“If you witness any highlights during a competition, please let Graeme know so we can all enjoy the moment?"

Both Blaike and Mia qualified for The Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship that will be hosted by the very generous Twin Waters, Pelican Waters, Peregian Golf Course and Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort during the last week of the September School holidays (tbc).

The Invincibles Course Cup was won by Jordan Speare (Pelican Waters - below) and by winning the Course Cup, Jordan also qualified for The Invincibles Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort, Sunday the 24th of November, followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner.

Their support helps us enormously with the promotion and development of Junior Golf on the Sunshine Coast which is something we don’t take for granted and very much appreciate.....

We would also like to make special mention of The Invincibles Committee who do an excellent job behind the scenes to make sure The Tour runs well, in particular Joss Quirk, Frank Schmidt, and Neil Charkow. They give their time so willingly to help at events, behind the scenes or with The Invincibles website in the hope of making sure that your golfing experience is just that much more enjoyable.
