The Invincibles Tour on behalf of their members, families, and junior golfers throughout South East Queensland, would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the great team at the beautifully presented Maleny Golf Club, who take great pleasure in supporting junior golf across the Sunshine Coast, South Burnett, and Glass House Mountain Regions.
But most importantly, we would like to thank them for their fantastic support and friendly hospitality.
If you haven’t visited or enjoyed a round of golf on the beautifully presented Maleny Golf Course, situated a comfortable forty- minute drive north of Brisbane through the world-renowned Glass House Mountains that nestle at the foot of the majestic hinterland “Great Dividing Range” overlooking the Sunshine Coast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdPXUzeRnhc then you are missing out on one of Queensland’s hidden golfing treasures.

After missing out on the 2020 Sunshine Coast Zone & District Boys & Girls Short Course Championships due to Covid, this year’s event proceeded despite a little rain, at times heavy, but it wasn’t going to be enough to dampen the spirits, nor take away an opportunity for our future champions (and their families) from having fun whilst contesting their very own Short Course Championships.
Congratulations to the overall Champions in Sam Wilson (Maroochy River) and Janie Carroll (Royal Queensland) who recorded rounds of 41 and 46, respectively.
Sam’s magnificent tee shot on the very tough downhill 136m par 3 first hole that finished half a metre from the hole, which set the foundations for Sam’s day.
Janie’s brilliant 40-foot birdie putt on the 6th hole went a long way towards helping her win the girls title for 2021.

Even though the weather God’s were against us, it didn’t seem to stop anyone from making the most of their opportunities, in fact, it seemed to draw everyone closer together as they fought the elements, which was fantastic to see.
To witness everyone laughing, joking, and supporting each other as they made their way round the course, and enjoying the BBQ was a fantastic sight to see and great to be a part of.
It really doesn’t get any better than witnessing our next generation of junior golfers, and their families take to the fairways to test their skills and patience against one of the coasts newest and beautifully presented golf courses “Maleny Golf Club”.
Who given the circumstances, had their course in excellent condition to contest the Zone & District Short Course Championships.
Young Bailey Ellis should be applauded for the excellent job he did taking photos on the 1st tee and at presentations, along with handing out the much sought-after sausage sizzle vouchers, which must have been an enormous help to dad, Gary!
Unfortunately, the weather conditions limited our ability to take photos, but we did the best we could given the circumstances. It was a shame, but all a part of working with what we had to get the job done. Just like everyone else on the day!!
Garry Ellis (SC&SBDGA’s, Director Junior Golf -p1 above) and Judy Patterson and Sue Graham (President & Junior Convenor – SCB&DWG -p4) should be enormously pleased with the outcome, particularly given they were up against it with the weather and collectively they did a brilliant job and should be happy with the outcome.
There’s no doubting that this fantastic concept gives our little tackers the perfect opportunity to contest their own “Major Championship” which was a joint initiative of both the Sunshine Coast & South Burnett District Golf, and Sunshine Coast Burnett & District Women’s Golf Associations, which is proudly supported by The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Junior Golfing Tour!
If Sunday at Maleny was anything to go by, then our next generation of junior golfers on the Sunshine Coast and throughout South East Queensland are in for an extremely exciting and promising future.
On behalf of our Men & Women’s Zone and District Golf Associations and for those that took part in the day, we would like to thank the team at Maleny for their input, support and most importantly, for their friendly hospitality.
It was fantastic to be there to witness what was a great day out, particularly watching everyone gather around and enjoy the BBQ (dripping wet) prior to presentations.
Unfortunately, there were no N,T,P’s due to Covid rules, so instead, it was decided to do a lucky card draw that brought a smile to some lucky juniors that stayed back for presentations.
There were many highlights during the day, but without doubt, the friendship, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that was on display between players, caddies, families, and organisers was fantastic. “Particularly given the circumstances”.
A special mention to Ryle Swart for his “Better Than His Best Performance” and as we all know, it doesn’t get any better than bettering your best. Well done, Ryle!!
Well done to everyone, your input and support is helping create an atmosphere that is without doubt, an absolute pleasure to be associated with.
One of the great benefits to come out of this initiative is that it gives all parties concerned the perfect opportunity to set in place a unified format for everyone to follow when running three, six- and nine-hole junior events, which is long overdue and well worthy of everyone implementing.
From an Invincibles perspective: we know we speak for our members and their families, when we extend a special thanks and our appreciation to our sponsors and supporters (below) for the massive input and support they give to Junior Golf and The Invincibles Tour.
Their support helps us enormously with the promotion and development of Junior Golf on the Sunshine Coast which is something we don’t take for granted and very much appreciate.....
We would also like to make special mention of The Invincibles Committee who do an excellent job behind the scenes to make sure The Tour runs well, in particular Joss Quirk, Frank Schmidt, and Neil Charkow. They give their time so willingly to help at events, behind the scenes or with The Invincibles website in the hope of making sure that your golfing experience is just that much more enjoyable.
