On what started out as a picture-perfect day to contest the 2018 IBF Junior Classic "hosted by Twin Waters Golf Club" who had their course and facilities in magnificent condition to showcase Ian’s Championship, and for those lucky enough to get their nominations in on time, were…..
Treated to a great contest, that started out in perfect conditions over the first nine holes, to windy conditions over the back nine, that just added to the drama and performances of Cassie and Tyler, where Cassie (Peregian Golf Course) broke her own Twin Waters Invincibles Course record by two shots, when she recorded a brilliant 4 under par 68, to break her old mark by 2 shots, that she set back in 2016.
“The Tour has been notified by Twin Waters management that Cassie’s 68 (-4) at the IBF Classic has equalled the official ladies course record, that was held by Krystal Fanning”.
This means that Cassie now holds or jointly holds official ladies Course Records at both Twin Waters and Pelican Waters Golf Clubs!
Cassie’s fantastic performance earned her an invitation from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) into their ActewAGL Canberra Classic, 1-3 March 2019 at Royal Canberra Golf Club, along with a $1000 scholarship to be used for travel and accommodation to an event of her choosing, that was proudly
sponsored by Ian Baker – Finch, along with other awards that were very generously sponsored by Callaway Australia.
Not to be outdone “after taking out the Zone & District Open and Closed Championship just a week earlier” Tyler (Redcliffe) continued his good form by recording an outstanding two under par 70 to claim the Boys IBF Junior Championship Title for 2018.
Like Cassie, Tyler received a $1000 scholarship to be used for travel and accommodation to an event of his choosing from Ian, and an exemption into the final qualifying round of the Queensland Open in 2019, along with many other prizes.
Ian was extremely disappointed that he was not able to attend his Classic this year, given commitments in America, but he did send a recorded message wishing everyone all the very best and is looking to catching up with everyone when he gets home, and hopefully that will be at our Presentation Dinner.
Ian was absolutely thrilled with the feedback that he received on the day. “I am extremely proud to have my name associated with The Invincibles Tour and the kids, the way they handle themselves both on and off the course is a credit to their parents, their clubs and the game of golf, Ian said".
They present immaculately, and they can certainly play the game as scores would indicate (Particularly Cassie and Tyler) and they speak so well at presentations, and that’s largely due to The Invincibles Tour.
You only have to look around, to see the impact The Invincibles are having on junior golf, said Ian.
It’s obvious they are having a lot of fun (as do the parents) and at the same time they are learning a lot of invaluable people and social skills that will carry them through life, and there’s no doubt that I will do everything I can to help”.
On Behalf of Ian Baker - Finch, Twin Waters, The Invincibles Tour, and their members, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael Gawne and Callaway Australia for their enormous support, there support is very much appreciated and makes a huge difference when it comes to running Invincibles events. particularly the Ian Baker - Finch Junior Classic!!

The team at Maroochy River Golf Club have taken an unassailable lead in The Invincibles Inter – Club Team Shield after Keperra Golf Club (222) earned the four points for winning, Emerald Lakes (223) earned two points for second, with Noosa (225) taking out one point for third.
There were many highlights on the day, that included; Samara Dryden’s brilliant up and down from the bunker on 5, Cooper Tonga’s fantastic approach to the 1st, Nathan Rothwell’s terrific chip and putt for par on 1, Bailey Arnott’s run of three straight birdies, Emily Martin’s approach to the 5th, Jordan Rooke’s approach to 5, Will Martell’s unbelievable escape from the trees on 5 to salvage his par, and Lubbe Llewellyn’s chip in birdie on the 1st which were just a few of the many, many highlights during the day!!!
A major highlight was witnessing the true grit and determination that was displayed by Kyle Gray (Emerald Lakes - Gold Coast – p2 above) who drove all the way to the Sunny Coast with no guarantee that there would a spot available, which is a fair indications that this is a young man that has the focus and determination to make it through to the elite level of a Touring Pro!
The low light on the day had to go to Teeren Kannan; who had to withdraw from the day due to trying to jump a tennis net (yes you guessed it) he clipped the top and spent the morning in hospital repairing a broken wrist!!!! (we hope you get well soon Teeren – p4 below)
