Well; It doesn’t get any better than witnessing our next generation of junior golfers (and their families) take to the fairways to test their skills and patience against the beautifully presented Maleny Golf Club whilst contesting the Zone & District 6 & 9 Hole Short Course Championships (as young Samuel Wilson pictured would agree) after taking out the 6-Hole Championship Title and two…………
NTP’s. No wonder he is grinning from ear to ear!!!
If Sunday at Maleny was anything to go by, then our next generation of junior golfers on the Sunshine Coast and throughout South East Queensland are in for a very exciting and promising future.
The men’s and women’s Golf Zones and Associations should be applauded for this fantastic concept, as it’s the perfect environment for our juniors to grow and develop their skills.
On what was an overcast, but perfect day for golf, we were treated to some very exciting and quite impressive performances as our very talented 6 & 9-hole competitors took up the challenge of contesting their own Short Course Championship.
In the Girls 9 Hole division; we witnessed some outstanding performances that included Layla Barnett (p1 below) taking out the 9-Hole Gross Champions Title, with Sophie Thomsen being runner-up.
Ellianna Mac Rae won best nett, with Merrin Bartholomaus being nett runner-up.
6 Hole Girls: saw Satara Wood win the Best Gross Champion Title for 6 holes, Sienna Coghlan was runner-up.
Ahlee Barnett won best nett, with Janie Carroll winning best nett runner-up.

The Nett Title went to Charlie Simm with 18, with Shae Coughlan taking out Nett Runner-Up with 19.
The Men’s Zones Special Award went to Sol Augustyniak!
9 Hole NTP's went to James Milasa (3) Harry Price (5) 6 Hole went to Samuel Wilson on 3 and 5 respectively.
There were many highlights during the day, but without doubt, the friendship, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that was on display between players, caddies, families, and organisers was absolutely fantastic.
Other highlights included: Ellianna McCrae’s bunker shot on 5, Layla Barnett’s putt to save par on 6, Cooper Robertson’s approach to 6 and Brody McCrae’s chip into 6, Hayden Eddy’s putt on 6 and Brooke Easton and Will Sinclair’s tee shots down 6 and Zane Duncan’s tee shot on 9 were just a few of the many, many highlights on the day.
Well done to everyone, your input and support is helping create an atmosphere that was without doubt, an absolute pleasure to be associated with….
There’s no doubting that this fantastic concept gives our little tackers the perfect opportunity to contest their own Major Event “Championship” that was a joint initiative of both the Sunshine Coast & South Burnett District Golf, and Sunshine Coast Burnett & District Women’s Golf Associations, overseen by Terry Ward (Secretary/Treasurer) Shaun O’Hara (Director Junior Golf) Diana Banks (President SCB&DWG) and proudly supported by Graeme Miller and Frank Schmidt, The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Junior Golfing Tour!
One of the great benefits to come out of this initiative (see main News Letter for full results and Gallery) is that it gives all parties concerned the perfect opportunity to set in place a unified format for everyone to follow when running six and nine hole junior events, which is long overdue and well worthy of everyone implementing.
Below p4, is Shaun O'Hara, Terry Ward, Diana Banks, and Graeme Miller who along with their respective organisations are devoted to the growth and development of junior golf.
If you enjoy your golf and would like to meet new people, travel to some of the best courses that Queensland has to offer and make new friends in the process, you can do so by becoming a member of the fastest growing, professionally run and organised junior golfing programs in Australia “The Invincibles Tour” where our aim is to create an atmosphere that allows our juniors to reach their full potential in a safe, fair and friendly environment……
