On what were two magical days for our members to catch up with friends whilst celebrating the opening round of their 2018 season, which was certainly helped, by the Mount Coolum Golf Club and their great team who had their course and facilities in magnificent condition to host the opening round “the Golf Queensland Titleist 2 Day Summer Classic” where Jade Longstaff (Redcliffe) and Samuel Slater (Brisbane - pictured) put in excellent performances to win the overall Classic Titles with combined ….

Changing the subject for a minute: “The Invincibles Tour would like to wish those members that couldn’t make it to the Golf Queensland 2 Day or Caboolture Junior Classics (due to Interstate and International commitments) all the very best, in particular, Cassie Porter (Peregian Golf Course) for her brilliant effort in winning the South Australian Junior Amateur Championships with consistent rounds of 74-74-74=222”

As is always the case; the team at Mount Coolum Golf Club did a brilliant job setting everything in place to host the 2 Day Classic, their dams were full (which is always a great sight) the course was in magnificent condition, particularly the greens and tee boxes, that set the scene for what was a fantastic couple of days of competition.

The Invincibles Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the Mount Coolum team, who always do a brilliant job promoting junior golf and making sure everyone feels welcome!

Jade Longstaff (Redcliffe) and Samuel Slater (Brisbane -P-1&2 below) qualified for The Invincibles 2018 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, that will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Twin Waters, Peregian Golf Course, Pelican Waters, and Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort during the last week of the September School holidays (30th of September to the 3rd of October – 2018).

Will’s twin brother Nathan Rothwell (both from Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort) played the perfect 9 iron into the very challenging 10th hole, where the ball took one bounce and straight into the hole to record his second “Hole in One” in competition! (well done boys, a big day for the Rothwell family)

Highlights on the day included: Blake Perkin’s Invincibles Course equalling record score (69) that was set by Matthew Samen – Curtis back in 2013, Liam Dawson nearly holing out on the 5th, Samuel Slater, Ben Duncombe and Cooper Clarke’s up and downs from the back bunker on 17, Emily Martin’s approaches to 14 and 17 to set up par and birdie. Keely Purdy’s brilliant bunker shot on 17 from a very difficult lie, but most would believe one of the major highlights over the two days was witnessing the incredibly talented 9-hole contestants play the game, which was incredible, and just a few of the many, many highlights over the days…….
