“Does it get any better than witnessing a group of our very talented Invincibles members performing on the same stage as their idols whilst taking in the atmosphere of one of Australia’s most prestigious sporting events "The Australian PGA Championship - Pro Am" and thanks to Tourism and Events Queensland, that's precisely what three of our very lucky juniors got to experience".

To see our juniors perform on the same stage as some of the world’s greatest golfers and rub shoulders with some of our most celebrated celebrities was an enormous thrill and experience which we believe will stay with them forever!!!!

Yes; the venue might have changed from the Sunshine Coast (which was a huge disappointment to the Sunny Coast community) to the beautifully presented and very exciting RACV Royal Pines Golf Resort on the Gold Coast, but outside that, nothing had changed other than the easy one hour - forty minute drive down the Bruce Highway and I suppose that’s what we all expected given the great team at TRP Sports and the PGA Australia!

The highly professional and organized teams from TRP Sports, PGA Australia and their brilliant team of volunteers did a magnificent job and had everything running like clockwork for the opening of one of Australia’s most prestigious and famous golfing events “The Australian PGA Championship - proudly sponsored by Coca Cola” which was a huge shot in the arm for everyone concerned, particularly given the heart ache they had to endure last year.

Unfortunately we couldn’t get invites to the Dinner with the Stars this year due to a high demand on tickets, but thanks to Tourism and Events Queensland three of our extremely lucky Invincibles members were given special invitations to take part in the Pro – Am, which was an enormous honour and privilege for our juniors who performed brilliantly and made the most of the unbelievable opportunity.

The Invincibles team was led by Akinori Tani (Japan) and our Invincibles representatives were Shae Wools - Cobb (Horton Park), Samantha Foley (Royal Pines) and Zac Quirk (Mount Coolum) who did a brilliant job representing The Invincibles Tour, their families and their clubs.

The team collectively had 13 under off the stick which was made up with Tani -5, Wools – Cobb -6, Foley -1 and Quirk -1 to just miss out in a c/b for third place.

Wools – Cobb, Foley and Quirk represented The Invincibles Tour brilliantly and performed like absolute Pro’s as they worked their way around the beautifully presented RACV Royal Pines layout and would like to take this opportunity on behalf of The Invincibles Tour and the team that represented them, to thank Tourism and Events Queensland for their magnificent support of junior golf in Queensland and for their very generous invitation.

The Invincibles Tour would also like to thank TRP Sports (Roseanne & Neil Goddard, Robyn Smith) and their team along with Brian Thorburn and his team from PGA Australian for their very generous support, guidance and feedback; it is and has always been very much appreciated.

To Quirks surprise (below) his nearest the pin on the fifth (and birdie) earned him a return trip to New Zealand courtesy of “Fly Emirates” which was an enormous buzz for everyone in the group and Zac, along with The Invincibles Tour would like us to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the Fly Emirates organization for giving him the opportunity to win such a magnificent prize.

Its unbelievable Quirk said. What a year “I don’t believe the year I’ve had” I just don’t want it to end, Quirk said. The day was just fantastic and I’ve learned so much. Akinori and his caddie Nakamura were just fantastic, they couldn’t have been more helpful or encouraging and he gave us a great insight into what is expected of a Professional golfer. It was awesome, just awesome and to win a trip to New Zealand just topped off what was a great day, Quirk said…..

Wools – Cobb and Foley were just blown away, Royal Pines was in magnificent condition, if you had seen it three weeks ago you wouldn’t believe the transition, Foley said “the Pro’s really have something to look forward to” RACV Royal Pines and their team along with TRP Sports and the PGA have done a magnificent job preparing it for the Australian PGA Championship. It's been an experience that I’ll never forget.

Wools – Cobb was taken in by the whole thing, to be out here playing on the same stage as the Pro’s that I have watched on TV, was a dream come true, to perform so well was an awesome feeling (– 6) was an unbelievable feeling and one I won’t forget any time soon, Wools – Cobb said. Akinori Tani and his caddie Nakamura Tasuku were incredible, the way they helped us was fantastic, we all really clicked and got on so well. It was a bonus that the whole group played some awesome golf, said Wools – Cobb!

I’ve got to ask; does it get any better than seeing out juniors get the above opportunities to elevate to the highest possible level and experience their dreams on the world stage? And that's why we would like to thank Tourism and Events Queensland for helping make our juniors dreams and aspirations come true!!!!

The Invincibles Tour would like to think that everyone that was associated with helping our Invincibles members follow their dreams and strive to reach their full potential would take a certain amount of pride and satisfaction out of knowing that you have helped make their dreams come true!!!!
