The volunteers and organisers of the 2012 Australian PGA Championship congratulates and welcomes a new star to centre stage of Australian Sport; Daniel Popovic “Ranked No.1251” Popovic showed nerves of steel and tremendous courage throughout the championship, but in particular, during the dramatic final round at the Australian PGA Championship to claim the prestigious Kirkwood Cup by four shots over Rod Pampling and Anthony Brown on a dramatic final days play at the Palmer Coolum Resort.

The Tour believes, and we think most would agree that this year has seen its fair share of trials and tribulations when it came to hosting the 2012 PGA Championship “Palmer Coolum Resort” (Sunshine Coast).

But thanks to Brian Thorburn and his team at PGA Australia, Roseanne & Neil Goddard, Robyn Smith and their team at TRP Sports, the dedicated and hard working team of staff members at Palmer Coolum Resort and of course, the unsung heroes of Australian Sport “OUR VOLUNTEERS” who without their input and support, none of our major events would be at all possible, including our Australian PGA Championship.

So on behalf of Events Queensland, Sunshine Coast Council, Golf Australia, TRP Sports, PGA Australia and The Invincibles Tour, we would like to thank you and acknowledge your incredible input into the running and huge success of this year’s 2012 Australian PGA Championship!

Over the years, many world class golfers (including our own) have looked forward to coming home or visiting the Sunshine Coast to take part in their final event for the year “The Australian PGA Championship - Coolum”.

Being the players final event for the year, they looked forward to gathering together with family and friends whilst competing for one of Australia’s most prestigious titles, but just as importantly, to enjoy and savour the magnificent atmosphere and lifestyle that the Sunshine Coast has to offer, particularly leading into Christmas and the New Year!

Even though the above players travel the world competing on the World Stage, there’s one thing that they never forget, nor do they take for granted and that is the hard work and dedication that our volunteers are renowned for and they have asked me to pass on their thanks and appreciation and wished everyone a Happy and Rewarding 2013!

This year was a little different than most given that most of our normal volunteers were away representing their clubs and the Sunshine Coast at the Greg Norman Junior Masters Championship which made for a lot of new faces.

On a personal note and on behalf of The Invincibles Committee, I’d like to thank all our volunteers for a fantastic job well done. What you do to help showcase Australia to the world is unbelievable and fills one full of pride in knowing the TV coverage is going international and showcasing the Sunshine Coast in all its glory and at its pristine best!

Once again, thanks a million to everyone involved for helping to make this year’s Australian PGA Championship a memorable one and I look forward to catching up with you on Tour, The Invincibles Tour!
