On behalf of your hosts Peter and Anthony Zipf (Peter pictured below right with Metcash CEO Richard Hinson – Centre & Romeo Bordignon) IGA, their suppliers and The Invincibles Tour, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for joining us for what was another fantastic IGA Golf Day.

igacgd 2017 Main

On what was a “Cracker” of a day to host The Invincibles thirteenth annual IGA Corporate Golf Day, where our guests included, Richard Hinson (Metcash State CEO) and State Account Managers, David Gemmell (Schweppes) Matt Hall (Bundaberg) and John Savage (Saleslink) and Dale “Rowdy” Shearer (NRL) Matt Horder (Queensland Sport and Rec) Mark Brady (Noosa Springs) along with our great team of volunteers and some 132 guests who took to the fairways to test their skills on the beautifully presented Twin Waters Golf Course, with the sole aim of having fun whilst raising much needed funds for the Invincibles Sunshine Coast Junior Golfing Tour, and boy, they certainly did that as the photos below and in the gallery would suggest.

P4 below is your host Peter Zipf doing his welcoming speech to our guests prior to heading out on course for what was a fantastic day out.

This year’s champions “The Daines Train - p1 above” led by Sean Daines, Paul Geddes, Mark Daines and Brett Park took out the day with a very impressive 52.25.

The Pomona IGA team (p2) consisting of Peter Zipf (couldn’t do a thing wrong all day) Romeo Bordignon, Nathan Howie and John Curtiss who took out second spot with 53

Third place (p3) went to last year’s champions (The Brady Bunch) that was made up of Frank Schmidt, Matt Horder, Sarah Wilson and Mark Brady who came in with a score of 55.625.

As we’ve mentioned many times before, your golf days just wouldn’t be the great success they are without Irene Lally’s input and direction, so we would like to take this opportunity to thank Irene and also my wife Marshan (below p1) for their unbelievable support, it is without doubt very much appreciated by everyone who participates in our IGA Days.

There's no doubt that the winners on the day were those that took part, as it was one of the best days one could imagine, starting out with a BBQ on arrival at registration (Thanks to Bob & Geoff Miller) where our guests came to party "and party they did" on a course that looked an absolute treat and on a beautiful sunny winter's day in paradise (who could ask for more).

The Invincibles Tour would like to thank Michael Gawne and Callaway Australia for their fantastic support with the main raffle (above p2) that was won by Kim McClean (Drummond Golf Maroochydore) and then donated back for auction.

That, combined with a whole host of prizes and show bags that were filled to overflowing with all sorts of goodies thanks to our supporters, and lucky door prizes just topped off what was a fantastic day.

The Invincibles Tour would personally like to acknowledge and pass on their thanks and appreciation to Peter & Anthony Zipf and their team at IGA for their very generous support over many years (13 to be exact), their input and support has been very much appreciated and once again they have helped us move mountains in the name of junior golf.

We would also like to thank Romeo Bordignon and Peter Kimlin for their fantastic input and support, they made Irene’s and The Tours job so much easier, which we know showed on the day.

We would like to acknowledge and thank Steve Hutchison (General Manager) at Twin Waters and his great team in Rachel Hutchison (Golf Events Co - ordinator) along with Dave Marr (Assistant Manager) their bar staff, caterers, and ground staff for making sure everything ran smoothly, but most importantly, for making everyone feel so welcome.

A little too welcome, as the photos below would suggest….

There’s no doubt that the 1st hole brought out a side in our guests that really created a fantastic atmosphere, but the mind boggles, it took no persuading at all to get our male guests to dress up in ladies’ outfits, in an effort to gain a few metres by teeing off from the ladies’ tees (rather than the men’s) which certainly was a load of fun.

Thanks to our sponsors “Callaway Australia” Kim McClean (Drummond Golf Maroochydore, below – p1) was the lucky winner of our Major Raffle, that included approximately $3,000.00 worth of Callaway product, that included two rounds of golf at Twin Waters, a set of Callaway XR Tour Golf Clubs (fitted) an O-Works Putter and a Callaway Pro Tour Golf Bag, Back Pack, Towel – Glove, Umbrella, Cap, and a 1 Dozen Callaway Golf Balls……

It was a very generous gesture from Kim McClean to donate her prize back to be auctioned, to the great delight of Geoff Miller (Melbourne) who was the successful bidder that raised a bonus $1000.00 for The Invincibles Junior Golfing Tour, that brought the total to just under $14.000.00 which is a magnificent effort.

Roy McClean (Drummond Golf Maroochydore - p3 below) took the opportunity to personally present their “Drummond Achiever of the Month Award” for June and July to Jed Morgan for his outstanding performances.

Dale Shearer (NRL Legend - p4 above) joined us on the day to talk a little about his Cancer Foundation, and also auction off some fantastic memorabilia including a framed photo of Adam Scott, Greg Norman, and Jason Day.

We would like to believe that IGA and their suppliers would take a certain amount of pride and satisfaction out of knowing that their support is without doubt making a difference by giving every junior involved in golf on the Sunshine Coast and South-East Queensland an unbelievable opportunity to follow their dreams and reach their full potential in a safe, fair, and friendly environment under the guidance of The Invincibles Tour and support of IGA.

We know we speak for everyone when we extend special thanks, and our appreciation to our sponsors and supporters (below) for the massive input and support they give to The Invincibles Tour, for without that support, we “The Tour” just couldn’t exist?

History was created by Peter Zipf (p1 -below) after sinking an incredible forty-five-foot foot right to left down-hill putt to take out the putting comp to kick start proceedings.
