The Invincibles Tour on behalf of their members and junior golfers throughout South East Queensland, would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to Andrew Kenny (Manager - Pelican Waters G.C) Jacob Harris (Golf Director) and their great team for their outstanding support, encouragement, and feedback during the running of The Invincibles 2018 Matchplay Championships.
To allow our members to contest their championship on a Saturday “which is something totally unheard of” and something we take as an endorsement for what The Invincibles Tour is striving to achieve on the Sunshine Coast, and that is to create a fun, fair and friendly environment where our juniors can follow their dreams and reach their full potential, and that couldn’t be achieved without the support and generosity from administrators and clubs like Pelican Waters!
The staff at Pelican Waters had their courses and facilities in magnificent condition to host the championship, which was an absolute thrill and a true test to everyone that took part.
But most importantly, they would like to thank everyone at Pelican Waters for making everyone feel welcome, it really was appreciated.
If you haven’t visited or played a game of golf at the beautifully presented Pelican Waters Golf Course, situated a comfortabe fifty minutes drive north of Brisbane, then you are missing a very special experience, not to mention the wildlife, which is just magnificent……

Even though there were a couple of delays due to severe weather, The Invincibles Matchplay Finals were certainly worth the wait, as it was an absolute pleasure to witness those that made it through to the finals, giving it their best, and that’s just what these young men and women did as they played some incredible golf "they make the game look so easy" and they certainly are a credit to their clubs and the game………….
The committee of The Invincibles Tour would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all contestants, their families, caddies, and the galleries for helping make The Invincibles 2018 Matchplay Championships the huge success it was.
"Your input and support helped create a fantastic atmosphere and a very exciting Championship".
One of the major highlight during the finals was having two of our past Invincibles members, and Australia’s highest profile players in Shae Wools-Cobb (Maroochy River - Golf Queensland Player of the Year) and Charlie Dann (Pelican Waters – pictured) also a Golf Queensland Player of the year, who took great pleasure in encouraging the competitors and doing the honours of presenting the trophies, that gave everyone involved a huge buzz.
To think that Shae and Charlie started out just like our finalists, honing their skills on The Invincibles Tour, to now, where they are traveling the world representing Australia, the Sunshine Coast and Queensland, which one would hope would be an inspiration to all our aspiring juniors, given they
followed their dreams, to now, where they are reaping the rewards.
The Tour would once again like to take the opportunity to thank Andrew Kenny (General Manager - Pelican Waters G.C) and his team for their very generous support in hosting all three rounds of our 2018 Matchplay Championships on Saturdays “which is something that is totally unheard off” and an absolute life saver, which was very much appreciated.

The eventual winners were: Tyler Duncan (Redcliffe – A Grade – P1 below) who defeated Cooper Clarke (Noosa) 5/4.
Reigning Girls Open Champion Caitlin Vanderkruk (Keperra – P2) defended her title after recording a solid 6/5 win against Sophie Martell (Pelican Waters).
The match between Will Bowen (Royal Queensland - P3) and Tyler Quaill (Maroochy River) where Will eventually run out the winner with a 3/2 performance.
Marcus Carlson (Pine Rivers – P4) put in an unbelievable performance for someone so young to take James Riseley (Pelican Waters – P4) to the 19th hole for his win, which was a remarkable effort.
But one must congratulate James Riseley (Pelican Waters) for his guts and determination, to give away 23 shots and take his match to the 19th was a brilliant effort, and well worthy of everyone’s respect, it was a gutsy effort.
With Andrew Kenny’s very generous gesture, along with the fantastic support we received from his staff over the three days was fantastic, that, along with a great group of parents, some incredible performances, along with the camaraderie and sportsmanship that was on display, all added up to creating an excellent atmosphere for everyone involved.
The committee of The Invincibles Tour were thrilled to bits to kick off their 2018 season with their Matchplay Championships where they witnessed some of Queensland’s finest junior golfers go head to head to see who was going to be named the 2018 A, B and C Grade Boys and Girls Open Champions, which promised to be a hard-fought campaign, and that’s very much how it turned out.
As mentioned in previous articles, there were many, many magnificent highlights during The Invincibles Matchplay championships, but none better than in the way our members competed, they fought hard and did everything in their power to win within the spirit of the game.
Other magnificent highlights included: Sophie Martell’s approach to the 2nd, Cooper Clarke & Tyler Duncan’s tee shots on 4, Will Bowen’s par putt on 5 for the win, Tyler Quaill’s approach to 8 to set up his birdie and the win, Sophie’s tee shot on 11, Cooper’s tee shot on 13 from the tree’s to set up his birdie opportunity, Marcus’s approach to 8, and James Riseley’s brilliant up and down on 8 for par, Tyler approach to 15 and his tee shot and fairway shots on 16 were just magical.
As is always the case on The Invincibles, it is always a fantastic sight to see fellow Invincibles members that aren’t playing or in contention, come along to support their fellow team mates, it truly is a fantastic sight!
To witness first-hand the friendships, camaraderie and sportsmanship that was on display between the competitors, their caddies, the galleries and staff members at Pelican Waters, was a major highlight, a highlight that makes one appreciate just why The Invincibles Tour has gained the trust and respect of the golfing fraternity and organisations around Australia.
If you enjoy your golf and would like to meet new people, travel to some of the best courses that Queensland has to offer and make new friends in the process, you can do so by becoming a member of the fastest growing, professionally run and organised junior golfing programs in Australia “The Invincibles Tour” where our aim is to create an atmosphere that allows our juniors to reach their full potential in a safe, fair and friendly environment……

From an Invincibles perspective: we know we speak for our members and their families, when we extend a special thanks and our appreciation to our sponsors and supporters (below) for the massive input and support they give to Junior Golf and The Invincibles Tour.
Their support helps us enormously with the promotion and development of Junior Golf on the Sunshine Coast which is something we don’t take for granted and very much appreciate.....
We would also like to make special mention of The Invincibles Committee who do an excellent job behind the scenes to make sure The Tour runs well, in particular Joss Quirk, Frank Schmidt, and Neil Charkow. They give their time so willingly to help at events, behind the scenes or with The Invincibles website in the hope of making sure that your golfing experience is just that much more enjoyable.
